OneRepublic Brings “Counting Stars” to the Hollywood Bowl’s Fireworks Finale

OneRepublic will return to Los Angeles this week for two nights at the Hollywood Bowl, headlining the venue’s annual Fireworks Finale on Sept. 11 and 12.

Both shows begin at 8 p.m., pairing the band’s arena-sized pop-rock catalog with one of the Bowl’s signature fireworks displays. Presented in association with KCRW, the weekend gives songs built around huge choruses—“Counting Stars,” “I Lived,” “Good Life” and “I Ain’t Worried” among them—a fittingly large outdoor setting.

The timing also puts OneRepublic in Los Angeles during an unusually active stretch of new music. On Aug. 28, the band released its latest single, “Pay That Toll,” following “Need Your Love” in April and “In Your Eyes,” its reunion with longtime collaborator Alesso, in June. “Need Your Love” was produced by Tedder and had already been tested during select live performances before its official release.

Those songs follow 2024’s Artificial Paradise, OneRepublic’s sixth studio album, which pulled together several of the band’s recent crossover successes, including “I Ain’t Worried,” the David Guetta collaboration “I Don’t Wanna Wait,” “RUNAWAY” and Kaiju No. 8 ending theme “Nobody.” The band has since moved into a new recordings partnership with BMG, which announced that the deal will include OneRepublic’s upcoming seventh studio album.

Still, a OneRepublic show in 2026 reaches much further back than the current album cycle. Since breaking through with “Apologize” on Dreaming Out Loud in 2007, the group has built a catalog that moves easily between piano ballads, radio pop and larger rock arrangements. “Secrets,” “Stop and Stare,” “Love Runs Out” and “Counting Stars” have remained regular fixtures in recent performances.

Recent sets have also leaned into Ryan Tedder’s career outside the band. The singer and songwriter has written or co-written hits for artists including Beyoncé, Leona Lewis and Adele, and OneRepublic’s 2026 shows have incorporated songs such as “Halo,” “Bleeding Love” and “Rumour Has It” into a section highlighting that side of his catalog. Whether the Hollywood Bowl receives the same sequence remains to be seen, but it gives the band an unusually deep pool of recognizable material beyond its own singles.

At the Bowl, though, the obvious finale may be the setting itself. With two decades of radio hits, several new songs arriving in the months leading into the show and fireworks above the amphitheater, OneRepublic has a particularly natural assignment for one of the Hollywood Bowl’s biggest late-summer traditions.
