wave to earth will bring the pieces tour to the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on Sept. 9, continuing a new chapter for the South Korean trio just a month after the release of bad pieces.

The 11-track album arrived Aug. 7 and follows 2024’s play with earth! 0.03. Rather than simply extending the hazy, jazz-inflected indie sound that helped songs like “seasons” and “bad” travel far beyond Korea, bad pieces finds Daniel Kim, John Cha and Dong Q experimenting more openly with different textures and instrumentation.

That shift was already apparent on “heaven and hell,” the band’s first new single in nearly two years. Ahead of the album, wave to earth described the new music as more organic and built from a wider range of sounds and instruments. The recently released “courage” carries that approach into bad pieces, which moves between the familiar warmth of the band’s earlier work and a less predictable version of it.

The Los Angeles date arrives near the beginning of an extensive North American run that starts Sept. 4 in Vancouver before moving through Seattle and San Francisco. After the Greek Theatre, the tour continues across the continent with stops including Chicago, Boston and New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

For a band whose international audience has grown rapidly over the last few years, the Greek represents another sizable step. wave to earth has already turned its understated sound into sold-out U.S. shows and mass singalongs. Now, the question is how the stranger edges of bad pieces translate to a stage built for several thousand people.
